Muhlenberg's Wescoe Students Graduate

The Wescoe School of Muhlenberg College held commencement exercises on Saturday, November 1, 2:00 p.m., in the Egner Memorial Chapel.

An attendance of over 400 included participants, guests and college trustees. The graduates have completed accelerated bachelor’s degree programs in business administration, human resources management, and information systems.

The commencement speaker was Tammy Bormann, a graduate of Muhlenberg who received her bachelor’s degree in French and Communication. She went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University. Tammy Bormann has worked professionally for more than 20 years to dismantle racism through knowledge, dialogue and systemic change.  She has worked with the National Conference for Community and Justice, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, the Network of Alliances Bridging Race and Ethnicity, and co-founded the Workplace Diversity Network, a joint project of the National Conference for Community and Justice and the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Tammy currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of the Urban Bush Women dance company, immediate past vice chair of the Muhlenberg College Board of Trustees, and chair of the Administrative Board of Trinity United Methodist Church.  She is a chair emerita of the Myhelan Cultural Arts Center.

Peyton R. (Randy) Helm, Ph.D., president of Muhlenberg College presided at the Wescoe School’s 12th commencement ceremony. The dean of The Wescoe School, Jane Hudak, M.Ed., led the academic procession and opened the event. Provost Marjorie Hass, Ph.D., presented the candidates.

Paul Keeler of Wescosville, who received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, served as the student speaker during the ceremony.
