Political Science Scholar and Author to Speak at ‘Berg

Dr. Gary C. Jacobson, Professor of Political Science at the University of California San Diego, will give a public talk, “The Republican Party & the Legacy of the George W. Bush Administration,” on October 6 at 7 p.m. in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall.

Jacobson’s field of interest is American national politics, with a subfield focus on Congress and congressional elections.  He is the author of A Divider Not a Uniter: George W. Bush and the American People; Money in Congressional Elections; The Politics of Congressional Elections and The Electoral Origins of Divided Government.  Jacobson is also the co-author of Strategy and Choice in Congressional Elections, American Parties in Decline and The Logic of American Politics.  Currently, his research is exploring the electoral basis of partisan polarization in Congress.

Jacobson will also be available for classroom visits and discussion and his book, A Divider Not a Uniter: George W. Bush and the American People, will be available for purchase.

Co-sponsored by the Lectures and Forums Forum Program and Muhlenberg College’s Center for Ethics, the lecture is free and part of a semester-long series entitled 2008: Politics, Ethics and Citizenship.

2008: Politics, Ethics and Citizenship is presented in cooperation with the Political Science Department’s Election Series and co-sponsored by the Lectures and Forums Committee, with assistance from the Departments of Art, Media & Communication and Theatre & Dance, and the Muhlenberg Activities Council and the Multicultural Center.
