June 10 - 28 in the Baker Theatre, Trexler Pavilion for Theatre & Dance

The Sound of Music, Rodgers and Hammerstein's final collaboration, celebrates the joy of music in the face of oppression.  Young postulate Maria is sent by her convent to the home of the Captain Georg von Trapp, who has seven unruly children.  Through her unwavering cheerfulness and love of music and singing, she wins not only the hearts of the von Trapp children, but also the heart of their father as well.  However, they must risk everything when the Nazis threaten their native Austria.

This wonderful musical, based on a true story, is one of the most beloved American stage musicals and the motion picture, based on the Broadway play, has been loved by generations of moviegoers.

Muhlenberg's production features Courtnay Griswold '00 in the role of Maria and assistant professor of theatre Troy Dwyer as the Captain.  A company of theatre professionals, college students and community players round out the cast.

TICKETS are available by phone (484.664.3333), at the box office in the Trexler Pavilion for Theatre & Dance, and online at www.summerbroadway.org .
