'Berg Chaplain Offers Blessing of the Animals for Saint Francis Day

Muhlenberg Chaplain Callista Isabelle welcomes all faith traditions to a Blessing of the Animals in celebration of Saint Francis Day. The Blessing will take place on Sunday, October 7, at 4 p.m. outside of Egner Memorial Chapel.

 Friday, October 5, 2012 09:58 AM

All members of the community are welcome to bring their pets (on leashes or in crates) for a brief blessing in honor of St. Francis’ love of all creatures.

St. Francis is the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment. He is known for his appreciation and care of all animals, such that most blessings take place in a location where animals are welcomed. In addition to the Blessing of the Animals, this day provides an opportunity for education on animal rights, helping to save abused animals and the protection of endangered species.
