Sullivan developed a study abroad program in cooperation with Dublin City University.  The program launched in the spring semester of 2012.  It is for media and communication majors and is modeled after the College's theatre program in London and its business program in Maastricht.  In addition to a class taught by a DCU professor and one taught by a Muhlenberg professor, the program is the first at Muhlenberg to include an internship component.  These internships will be throughout the city with various media outlets and corporate communication offices.  John developed the entire program, worked with DCU professors and arranged partnerships with the local outlets.

The Irish Education 100 gives tribute is the enduring Irish success in education, especially at the university level.  Across the nation, many top institutions have men and women of Irish blood in positions of leadership.

Among the 2011 Irish Education 100 honorees along with Sullivan were more than a dozen college presidents including Rev. William P Leahy, Boston College; Rev. Joseph M. McShane, Fordham University;  Rev. Peter M. Donohue, Villanova University; Neill Kerwin, American University; John Lahey, Quinnipiac University; and Rev. Donald J. Harrington, president of St. John's University.

In 2011, the Irish Education 100 presented lifetime achievement awards to Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin chancellor of Barry University and Rev. Joseph O'Hare, former president of Fordham University.  The award winners were recognized at a dinner and reception at the Irish Consul General's House in New York.
