English Department Hosts Day-Long Alumni Conference

The English department at Muhlenberg College is hosting a day-long alumni conference in Seegers Union on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

An optional dinner will follow.  Pre-registration was required.  The conference will feature literary readings, career panels, lectures, and a discussion of Irish writer Claire Keegan's short story, "Foster."

Schedule of Events
9:00 a.m.- Coffee & Registration; Welcome

9:30-10:45 a.m.- "Occupations/Preoccupations" (a.k.a. Career Panels). Guest alumni presenters will talk about both their current careers as writers, editors, bloggers, teachers, lawyers and entrepreneurs and how their classes here at Muhlenberg helped them achieve their career goals.

11:00-12:15 p.m. - Classroom Discussion of Claire Keegan short story, "Foster." Discussion leaders: David Rosenwasser, Alec Marsh and Tom Cartelli.

12:30-1:30 p.m.- Lunch (available for purchase at Seegers)

1:30-2:45 p.m.- Literary Reading with poets, Matthew Hittinger '00 and Brittany Ober '07 and fiction writer, Daniel DiStefano '07.

3:00-4:15 p.m. - Academic Panel. Presentations by Monica Stufft '00, Charlotte McIvor '04 and Shane Trayers '96.

4:30-6:00 p.m. - Wine & Cheese Reception (with guest reading by Michael Pocalyko '76).

6:15-8:00 p.m. - Dinner with faculty ($30.00/plate).
