The Orpheus Institute, which provides students with instruction and experience in arts leadership, will host an open rehearsal with students in Musica de Camera, the campus’ chamber music ensemble.

 Wednesday, October 3, 2012 09:58 AM

The ensemble will be followed by a “Leadership, Not Leaders,” a panel discussion with business faculty Roland J. Kushner and W. Trexler Proffitt and Orpheus Musicians Jonathan Spitz (cello) and Laura Frautschi (violin).  These events will take place on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in the Recital Hall, Baker Center for the Arts. The open rehearsal will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m., with the panel following from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Orpheus, along with partner schools, aims to train a new generation of entrepreneurs in the music industry in an environment where empowerment and decision-making skills are emphasized. While the Orpheus Process may be grounded in music, Orpheus hopes non-music students will also utilize these skills in other education tracks, such as liberal arts and business. Orpheus trusts that these opportunities for leadership, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation will help musicians and non-musicians alike thrive and succeed in their respective communities.
