Muhlenberg College proudly welcomed its Class of 2029 last week. Hundreds of faculty, staff, and student leaders were on hand to welcome new students into the community through a number of beloved events and campus traditions, such as the candle-lighting and scarfing ceremony. Full teams of student-athletes helped the Class of 2029 move into campus residence halls. (About a third of Muhlenberg’s students are also varsity athletes.)

Muhlenberg’s newest students join the Allentown community from 26 states and 13 countries around the globe. In fact, 64% of the Class of 2029 comes to the college from out of state.

With an average GPA of 3.51 (on a 4.0 scale), the academically-minded class’s interests are widely split between the fields of natural sciences (23%), social sciences (21%), and accounting/business/economics/finance (21%). Another 16% intend to pursue the arts.

Student-athletes make up 38% of the Class of 2029.

Born around 2007, the Class of 2029 sits firmly in the middle of Gen Z — having never known a world without iPhones or social media. A quarter of Muhlenberg’s new arrivals are the first in their families to attend college.
