Training and Professional Development
Google's Higher Education Product Session at Muhlenberg College
November 15 from 11:00am-2:00pm in Seegers Union 111-112
What is Google’s Higher Education Product Session?
The Google for Education team is hosting free, 2 to 3 hour product sessions on campuses across the country. These product sessions aim to provide professional development around G Suite and augmented and virtual reality tools, with an emphasis on practical use cases in higher education.
The goals of these sessions are to:
- Introduce educators and staff to our products
- Inspire better use of these tools in instruction and daily workflow.
What can I expect?
Participants will learn best practices for using Google solutions for immersive learning, improving collaboration, streamlining communication, and optimizing their workflows. We’ll cover a number of new initiatives, ranging from how campuses are using Google’s virtual and augmented reality platforms to provide students access to new experiences to the latest productivity and collaboration tools that promote interactive learning and improve student engagement. This event will be interactive, and attendees are encouraged to bring devices so they can participate and do hands-on practice.
Products we’ll cover include G Suite (including newer products like Course Kit, Jamboard, Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet) and Tour Creator, a tool that allows anyone to create an immersive virtual reality experience, briefly touching on some others in the AR/VR space, including Labster, Tilt Brush, and Blocks.
Note: It is one session which generally runs 2.5 hours. Google encourages participants to attend the whole session so they don't miss out on anything. Having said that, participants are free to attend select portions of the session if they are unable to commit to the entire time frame.
