HYPE received a $15,000 grant in support of the HYPE-Building 21 partnership. Hype is a youth media arts program, housed in the Media & Communications Department, that encourages teens to raise their voices about issues affecting their world. Throughout the duration of this year, Dr. Taub-Pervizpour, Anthony Dalton, and Jenna Azar will offer faulty development workshops in digital learning pedagogies (podcasting, social annotation, digital storytelling, GIS mapping). Additionally, the grant supports the presence of Digital Learning Assistants at Building 21, supporting students and teachers in digital learning projects throughout the year. It not only expands our collaboration with Building 21 and alumni Heather Harlen, but also creates new opportunities for Digital Learning Assistants to extend their work into the community beyond campus and support younger digital learners.
