The Makerspace, on the lower level of Fahy Commons, is hosting holiday gift workshops this week and next as a way to introduce the Muhlenberg community to the space.

“We’re really trying to reach out to the campus community and let them know that the Makerspace is an asset and resource for everyone, whether faculty, staff or student,” says Assistant Professor and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program Director Greg Heller-LaBelle. “We thought the holiday gift workshops would be a great way to introduce the space, because many of us struggle to find time for shopping between finals and everything else. Plus, who wouldn’t rather have something fun that was made by a loved one?”

The Makerspace offers a variety of machines and tools, including:

Today’s workshop teaches how to personalize drinkware and Monday’s demonstrates 3D printed ornaments (both begin at 4 p.m.), but materials are still available to make items such as stickers, magnets, buttons, earrings, laser-cut ornaments and knick-knacks, pillow cases, puzzles and more.

The Makerspace is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays through finals week.
