The rating follows Princeton’s analysis of more than 25 data points from college student and administrator surveys over the past year. Schools publicized in the 2026 edition of the Guide to Green Colleges earned Green Rating scores of 80 or higher.

Earlier this fall, Princeton named Muhlenberg to its Best 391 Colleges in the country list and recognized the college for its impressive return on investment, outstanding theatre program, and delicious food.

The college’s newest academic building, the LEED Platinum-certified Fahy Commons for Public Engagement and Innovation, continues to earn sustainability recognition, becoming the first project in the world to achieve Core Living Building Certification and the state’s largest non-residential Passive House.

Muhlenberg’s campus-wide sustainability efforts began over two decades ago and today bring together students, faculty, and staff with a diversity of perspectives and areas of expertise to seek creative solutions for campus sustainability. The college offers academic programs in sustainability studies and environmental science, and earned a STARS Gold rating in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education last year.
