What a year it has been. In the following web pages of the Office of Advancement’s annual Philanthropy Report, you will find exceptional stories of support for Muhlenberg and the names of the thousands of donors who made everything from enhanced financial aid to summer research possible.

In the carousel above you will learn more about the first new stand-alone building on Muhlenberg’s campus since 2005 thanks to a generous alumnus and his wife who pledged the largest private contribution to the College in its history - $7.5 million. This gift will also support enhanced academic programming and the Seegers Union expansion, all part of the comprehensive campaign to elevate the people, places and experiences at Muhlenberg. To find out more about Boundless: The Campaign for Muhlenberg, visit boundless.muhlenberg.edu.

Here, you will meet Thomas Burkholder ’70 and Judith McDonald Burkholder ’71 who honored their time at Muhlenberg with the Burkholder Quadrangle and other donors who believe in the lasting legacy of scholarship and planned giving.

Although many were still reeling and recovering from the pandemic, giving incredibly exceeded all expectations during fund year July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021 with The Muhlenberg Fund reaching $2,566,525 in unrestricted support toward a cash giving total for the year of $11,306,113 - that’s a 78 percent increase over fund year 2020 cash receipts and the fourth highest giving total in the College's history!

These record-setting totals are thanks, in part, to the largest six-figure gift ever made to The Muhlenberg Fund and to the ongoing effort to secure monthly, or sustainer, gifts. Sustainer commitments better allow the College to plan for the future when they can rely on regular giving. These commitments also save on recurring postage and paper costs plus make contributing easy and automatic for the donor.

Successful signature events like Alumni Weekend, THAW and Mule Madness brought many together in person and hundreds more virtually, which allowed for global engagement and outstanding attendance. And, as always, our volunteers answered the call to the tune of 16,920 hours making each of these events, plus many more, successful and personal.

To each of the names that appear in these lists and to the many more who gave of their time, thank you on behalf of every member of the Office of Advancement and on behalf of every student who will benefit from your gifts for years to come.

With immense gratitude,

Rebekkah L. Brown ’99
Vice President, Office of Advancement
