Professional Development Opportunities

We recognize that in order to provide a working environment that truly embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, education is essential. To this end, we are committed to providing comprehensive professional development opportunities focused on DEIB. Through workshops, seminars, and training sessions, we aim to empower our faculty and staff with the knowledge, skills, and awareness necessary to create a culture where all individuals feel valued, respected and included. By investing in DEIB professional development, we are not only enhancing the experiences of our faculty and staff but also enriching the overall educational environment for our students and broader community.

Equity Advocate Course

Each year, staff and faculty can take a four-session course on inclusive hiring to become Equity Advocates for faculty and staff recruitment at Muhlenberg. Advocates undergo 10 hours of training on diverse recruiting, bias reduction, inclusive interviews and colleague retention.

Belong Community Webinars

As an institutional member of the Council of Independent College’s Belong: An Inclusive Learning community, faculty and staff have access to quarterly webinars in which higher education leaders develop skills to foster a sense of belonging in our campus community. The Belong community also provides access to a rich resource library on DEIB for all employees.
