Community Open Day at The Fahy Commons for Public Engagement and Innovation takes place Wednesday, January 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 2318 Chew Street, Allentown on Muhlenberg’s campus.

The College's newest academic building, Fahy Commons has earned regional, national and international honors for innovation and sustainability and is on track to be the first Living Building Challenge Core-certified structure in the world.

The event is free, open to the public and provides a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable design, renovation and building. It may be of particular interest to homeowners, architects, homebuilders and contractors, and those involved in sustainability efforts and organizations. Light refreshments will be provided.

The event aims to showcase the various strategies implemented in the building's construction.

The Open Day will feature a presentation by Eli Agia, project architect at Re:Vision Architecture; Angela Iraldi, sustainability consultant at Re:Vision; and Rick Waligora, capital projects manager at Muhlenberg College. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of Fahy Commons and participate in a Q&A session.

Dedicated in April, Fahy Commons features more than 20,000 square feet of student programming and academic space including the Office of Community Engagement, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program's Makerspace, Institute of Public Opinion, Division of Graduate and Continuing Education, Religious & Spiritual Life and new art studios and classroom spaces.
